This is a statue of Samantabhadra Bodhisattva. Samantabhadra is one of the Four Great Bodhisattvas in Buddhism. Usually, riding an elephant symbolizes the vastness of vows and actions.
Carved from white marble, the stone has a hard texture and delicate grains. The Bodhisattva sits serenely on the back of an elephant, wearing a treasure crown and celestial garments, and holding a ritual implement. The facial expression is compassionate and tranquil. The six - tusked elephant is vividly shaped and integrates with the Bodhisattva statue.
